Spyros Foulias regularly advises corporate clients on a wide range of matters in the broader area of business law. His practice includes M&A, foreign investment, real estate, competition law, commercial contracts and regulatory matters (particularly in the pharmaceuticals and foods and beverages industries). Spyros has also been involved in major shareholder disputes and is a member of the arbitration practice of the firm, having represented clients in both local and international arbitration proceedings.

Spyros joined V&P in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Spyros gained valuable experience training with the M&A department of the Paris branch of a major international law firm.

Spyros has been a member of the Athens Bar since 2002. He is also admitted for membership with the Paris Bar since 2003. Spyros obtained his law degree from the Law School of the University of Athens. He also holds a LL.M. in Commercial/Corporate law from the University of London - Queen Mary & Westfield College and a D.E.A. (Droit des affaires et de l’ économie) from Université Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne. Spyros is fluent in Greek, English and French and has a good understanding of Italian.

Spyros’ most recent contribution is the Greek Chapter of the "Antitrust Year-in Review" publication of the American Bar Association (2012). Spyros is also co-author of the respective Greek Chapters in “Commercial Property - Jurisdictional Comparisons”, First Edition (2010) and “Real Estate Law in Europe - The Essential Guide” (2008) and author of the Greek Chapter of the IFTA Arbitration Award Enforcement Booklet (2007).

Experience, key assignments and notable projects

• Representing a major industrial client/foreign investor in multiparty ICC arbitration proceedings.
• Advising a major US pharmaceutical company on regulatory matters and related competition issues.
• Advising company of the Allianz group in the acquisition of qualified shareholding interests in local company.
• Advising a major retail listed company in cross-border litigation vs. US based supplier and in simultaneous proceedings before the Greek Courts and the US Courts, in relation to IP infringements and competition law.
• Advising the largest industrial group in Greece (cable industry) on the acquisition of major competitor FULGOR Greek Electric Cables S.A.
• Representing local listed company in successful international arbitration proceedings before the Chambre Arbitrale de Paris.
• Advising qualified minority shareholders in the leading hotel and resorts group in Greece in relation to a major shareholders’ dispute.
• Member of V&P team that advised MIG on the acquisition of Olympic Airways, the largest M&A transaction in Greece for 2009.
• Advising various major corporations in obtaining merger control clearance from the Hellenic Competition Commission.
